[ THE CHALLENGE ]  Renovate and expand a hundred year old shingle style house to meet contemporary family needs.

[ THE RESPONSE]  A compact three story addition  stacks a lower level entry, a breakfast room/homework area, and a master bathroom, plugging into the side of the existing residence. Bands of windows are historically appropriate on the outside while creating a sense of openness on the inside. Custom cabinets,  furniture, and a sliding library ladder are inventive responses to practical requirements.
